If it ain’t red, leave it in the shed, is a phrase often heard in North American farming circles where just the mention of the Steiger name is enough to send the heartbeat of articulated tractor fans racing. It all started very low key when John Steiger and his sons, Douglass and Maurice, built their first tractor inside a barn at the family farm in Thief River Falls, in Minnesota, during the winter of 1957-1958.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Steiger tractor production at the US plant in Fargo, North Dakota. Reason enough for us to travel to the home of the Case IH Quadtrac
