Valmet 05 four-cylinder tractors: … or not by much, anyway. In 1982, Volvo BM Valmet introduced the ‘Nordic’ 05 tractor series. Features included a flat-floor cab, 4WD, synchro box with splitter, decent rear lift and a swivel seat. By the early 1990s these now Valmet-badged models started to enjoy strengthening sales on the UK market. James de Havilland assesses how these elderly Finns stack up as a used buy in 2009.

At profi we’re often asked to suggest a sound used tractor purchase that satisfies the livestock farming need for a ‘yardie’ with a bit more capability: an affordable second-hand buy with enough power to reliably work a diet feeder all winter, but with the added versatility to include mowing, top dressing and perhaps some cultivation, too.
