Driving impression: Vicon LB12200 big square baler Upping the big baler ante Vicon is making a much bigger push into the UK’s seemingly ‘plateauing’ 330-unit big square baler market with its new LB8200 and 12200 machines which feature a new pre-pack system to improve their performance in grass. Vicon has been in the big baler business for some time, its HP1600 being one of the first models in the European sector 20 or so years ago. But, despite Vicon baler evolution, through the MP800 and Greenland CB8080 on to the outgoing LB8100/12100 units, the firm would admit that, while its baler products have packed away straw quite happily, they haven’t had a truly universal silage and straw machine.

Until now, it seems. With its new LB8200 and 12200 machines, the Kverneland-owned firm is making bolder claims for its balers’ ability in both lush, heavy first cut and the sort of fluffy, lighter third cut that we baled on our test.
